Retro Auditor

If you have spent years building a LaunchBox collection, the scary part is not adding another ROM. It is working out what is actually referenced, what is sitting beside the catalogue unnoticed, and whether two differently named files are really the same content.

Retro Auditor is a read-only evidence reconciliation tool for LaunchBox collections.

It compares LaunchBox platform XML references with the physical files in your game folders, reports broken references and unreferenced game content, then uses SHA-256 on duplicate-size candidates to identify identical-content relationships.

It does not delete, rename, move or replace anything. Each run produces a readable HTML summary plus detailed CSV reports.

WHY READ-ONLY?

A matching hash proves identical bytes. It does not prove which copy belongs in your collection or which path an emulator expects. Retro Auditor gives you evidence instead of pretending it knows what you should delete.

TESTED ON A LARGE COLLECTION

The v0.05.0 Windows release completed a real LaunchBox audit with 33,014 catalogue references, 29,047 hashed files, 718 identical-content groups, zero hash errors and zero processing errors.
